Voters hand over all of Samtse to PDP

Residents under Samtse are pleased with the results of the final round of National Assembly (NA) elections that concluded with the general rounds poll yesterday.

In Samtse, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) swept majority votes in all the four constituencies to mark itself victorious. Many of the residents came out voting even though it was a hot sunny day.

In Phuntshopelri- Samtse constituency Dina Nath Dhungyel wooed the votes in his favor with a total 4,977 votes. He received 4,527 electronic voting machine (EVM) votes and 450 postal ballots from the constituency.

His opponent in the constituency, Druk Phuensum Tshogpa’s (DPT) Rebecca Gurung only secured 2,086 votes of which EVM votes constituted 1,954 and postal ballot votes received were 132.

Talking to D.N. Dhungyel he said, “It is been a wonderful gift from the public because the people has put on the faith on us, and we have live up to the expectation of the public.”

He added that the party will try to live up to the expectations of the nation, and will deliver what the party has promised.

Under Dophuchen- Tading constituency PDP’s Tek Bdr. Subbha won the hearts of the people as he secured 5,239 votes (EVM-4,763, Postal Ballots

476) compared to the former education minister Thakur Singh Powdyel, the DPT candidate of the constituency who only secured 2,877 votes (EVM- 2,677, Postal Ballot-200).

In Ugyentse- Yoeltse constituency PDP’s M.K Chhetri won with his 4,832 total votes secured from 4,320 EVM votes and 512 postal ballots. His opponent the DPT candidate Lila Pradhan secured only 1,633 votes (EVM-1,474, Postal Ballots- 159).

In Samtse’s Tashichholing constituency the PDP candidate Ritu Raj Chhetri secured a win with his 5,954 votes (EVM-5322, Postal Ballots-632), while his opponent the DPT candidate Durga Prasad Chettri only secured 2,319 votes (EVM-2,165, Postal Ballots-154).

Talking to the winner of this constituency Ritu Raj Chhetri said, “We have achieved what we thought for the long time, and now we promise to work much harder to make our people happy.”
