Why Haa chose a former teacher over the incumbent

People of Haa chose a former principal of Jampel Higher Secondary School and Drujeygang school Dago Tsheringla over the incumbent candidate Ugyen Namgay. Dago Tsheringla has 18 years of experience in education and holds Masters degree in Educational Leadership and Management from India.

He secured 2,690 votes including 636 postal ballot and 2,054 EVM votes. He said was in Haa for the past 8 years and during those years he could connect to so many people in Haa. He said he also served the youths of Haa for 8 years with lots of commitment, reliability and dedication.

He said, “Maybe because of that people have gained trust in me and elected me as their representative. During my campaign time, I was able to reach to all the households and could manage to talk with them and know the issues in Haa.”

This could be reason why people thought he could be the right person to serve them, he said, adding that people must have thought that he would be in better position to take up the issues since he knows the ground reality to some point.

As the house of review, he said, “I will look forward in discussing and reviewing proposed bills. If need be, I will initiate in coming up with new laws and policies after consultation with the people of my Dzongkhag and after a thorough research.”

He is thankful to people of Haa for giving him the chance to serve them and for having faith and trust in him. He said he is looking forward in fulfilling all the needs with full dedication.
