Yab Dasho Ugyen Dorji passed away peacefully in the early hours on the 8th day of the 3rd month of the Female Earth Pig Year (12th May, 2019) at his residence in Punakha, in the presence of His Holiness the Je Khenpo, who conducted Phowa.
His Eminence Gyalse Trulku, senior monks of the Dratshang, Yum Thuji Zam and his family members were also present. Yab Dasho Ugyen Dorji was 94.
On 15th May the Prime Minister and Cabinet, along with the Chief Operations Officer of the RBA, Chief of Police, and Commandant of RBG, offered their respects to Yab Dasho Ugyen Dorji at Wolokha, where the 4th Day funerary prayer ceremonies are being held.
The prayers are being presided over by His Holiness the Je Khenpo.
