Yesterday’s government leaves Dorokha gewog wanting more help

 

Ever since the gewog received electricity in 2012, the residents of Dorokha are not satisfied with the service from the Bhutan Power Cooperation (BPC). The gewog people say they are having major problems due to the erratic supply of electricity.

According to the people in the gewog, they have sold their power generators and solar panels when they received electricity, but now the community faces hardships because of have no proper source of power.

The gewog also stated that planned development works in the gewog by the Druk Phuensum Tshogpa (DPT) in its term had good outcomes except for the electricity shortage.

There are a total of 1,330 households in the gewog, and each household suffers because of electricity-related problems.

Gup Chandra Prasad Phuyel said, as per the plan, works by the Bhutan Power Corporation went well, but the servicing of the work was not good and this has affect the people in the gewog.

“During summer season, we don’t receive electricity for more than 10 to 15 days, and under these situations students suffer a lot. At the same time, some officials who work on computers are also disturbed,” said the Gup.

The gewog people are anxiously waiting for a response and action from authorities to resolve the issue.

  1. DPT will look into it after formation of its second govt in July 2013. Till then ask people of Dorokha geog to bear with the DPT, O.K. Ms.Sonam Wangmo? Thank you!
