The Naming Ceremony for Gyalsey to be held on Zhabdrung Kuchoe
This year, Zhabdrung Kuchoe will be celebrated in a special manner to mark the 400th year of Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyel’s arrival to Bhutan.
Prayer ceremonies will be conducted from 14th April onwards, and continue till the 19th. On the day of Zhabdrung Kuchoe, which falls on 16th April, Zhabdrung Tsechu will be held, and all the sacred dances related to the Zhabdrung will be performed.
The most sacred treasures and relics connected to Zhabdrung will be displayed for public veneration at the Punakha Dzong for the next three days. These treasures will be brought in from Dzongs across Bhutan for the special occasion.
The naming ceremony for His Royal Highness The Gyalsey will also be held on that auspicious day, making the celebrations even more special.
HRH The Gyalsey will receive a name from the most sacred Machhen Lhakhang of the Punakha Dzong.
Apart from His Majesty The King, His Majesty the Fourth King, Her Majesty The Gyaltsuen, Their Majesties the Queen Mothers, and members of the Royal family, Prime Minister, Cabinet Ministers and other dignitaries, a big gathering of the public is expected.
A ground outside the Dzong will witness some cultural programs performed by some schools and other organizations.
The people are all eagerly looking forward to the day to when HRH The Gyalsey will be named on an auspicious day and year.
The Bhutan Broadcasting Service will be providing a live broadcast of the event as ordinary people and their family members will be gathering around their television sets across the country on the special day.
HRH The Gyalsey was born on February 5th leading to nationwide celebrations.
