Australian Ambassador bids farewell

Patrick Suckling, Ambassador of Australia to Bhutan paid a farewell call on Lyonchhen Tshering Tobgay at the Gyalyong Tshogkhang on 19th January.

The Prime Minister congratulated Ambassador Suckling for successfully completing his tenure and said that Bhutan has seen a lot more interaction with Australia during his tenure. Lyonchhen thanked the Ambassador for valuable development assistance to Bhutan and its support especially in the education sector in terms of AusAID scholarships. Lyonchhen conveyed that these scholarships are important because the Bhutanese, who come back from Australia after completing their studies, bring back a lot of experience, knowledge and educational values that Australia stands for.

The leaders also expressed that both countries could further cooperation in combating climate change and promoting environmental conservation.

The Prime Minister mentioned that Bhutan would always welcome Australia’s generous offer to enhance collaboration and cooperation in various sectors of common interest.
