As per Tourism Council of Bhutan (TCB), a total of 5,790 tourists have arrived in the country from September 23 to October 12, 2022.
A total of 2,016 tourists who arrived in the country are paying the full USD 200 Sustainable Development Fee (SDF), with 1,585 guests paying the old SDF of USD 65, and 2,189 guests paying the SDF of Nu 1,200.
Bhutan opened its tourism formally on September 23, 2022, with 119 international guests on the first day.
As per the data from TCB, the number of tourists visiting the country is increasing on a weekly basis.
Meanwhile, Lyonchhen (Dr) Lotay Tshering, said that as part of the reform, Tourism Council of Bhutan (TCB) will not remain as an autonomous council.
Lyonchhen claimed that initial suggestion was to club it under the Ministry of Economic Affairs as a department.
“Under reforms principle, it is stated that it has to be consolidated. At agencies level, all the relevant commissions, authorities, councils will be rooted through a ministry. There will be one main stream ministry,” Lyonchhen said.
