Ambassador of Switzerland and China calls on PM

Ambassador of Switzerland to Bhutan Linus Von Castelmur called on the Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay at the Gyalyong Tshogkhang on November 20.

Lyonchhen conveyed his deepest appreciation to the ambassador and said that the support and friendship of the Swiss government and people have continuously benefitted Bhutan over the years. Lyonchhen also informed the ambassador that Bhutan draws a lot of inspiration from Switzerland’s development and progress in democracy.

The ambassador told Lyonchhen that Bhutan and Switzerland share many commonalities and that the two countries could learn a lot from each other’s experiences on the way forward.

The meeting highlighted on areas of future cooperation and joint ventures.

Earlier during the week, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China in New Delhi (PRC), Wei Wei also called on Lyonchhen on November 19.

During the meeting, Lyonchhen stated that the people and the Royal Government of Bhutan value and attach high importance to its relations with the people and the government of PRC. Lyonchhen expressed his satisfaction on the growing cordial relations sans diplomatic relations between the two countries and said that the people-to-people exchanges contributed significantly to the development of tourism, trade and other areas of shared interest.

The Ambassador thanked Lyonchhen for his views and said that they respect and treasure the friendly relations with Bhutan. The Ambassador added that he placed high hopes on enhancing cooperation and strengthening friendship in all times to come.

Ambassador Wei also informed Lyonchhen that Bhutan and China share common aspirations and he looked forward to working in close consultation with Bhutan on issues of mutual interests and concerns.
