Bangladesh Foreign Minister on official visit to Bhutan

At the invitation of Lyonpo Damcho Dorji, Minister for Foreign Affairs, Royal Government of Bhutan Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali, Minister for Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh is on an official visit to Bhutan from 12th to 15th May 2016.

The Foreign Ministry said that Mr Mahmood Ali’s visit to Bhutan will further strengthen the excellent ties of friendship and cooperation that exists between Bhutan and Bangladesh. Mr Mahmood Ali met with Lyonpo Damcho Dorji, Minister for Foreign Affairs, at Gyalyong Tshokhang on 12th May 2016.

During the meeting, the two Foreign Ministers exchanged views and held discussions on bilateral relations and economic cooperation as well as areas for sub-regional cooperation.

Both sides noted with satisfaction the strong ties of friendship, cooperation and understanding that exists between the two countries and expressed their firm commitment to further strengthen the relations.

During the visit, Mr Mahmood Ali will receive an audience with His Majesty the King and His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo. Mr Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali served as the Ambassador of the Bangladesh to Bhutan from 1986 to 1990.
