Prayers held as Her Majesty Gyalyum Tshering Yangdoen Wangchuck turned sixty on 21st June

BNF holds prayer ceremony for HM Gyalum’s 60th Birthday

To mark the 60th Birth Anniversary of Her Majesty Gyalyum Tshering Yangdoen Wangchuck, the Bhutan Nuns Foundation held a prayer ceremony at the training and resource centre for nuns at Tshalumaphey. Dharma talks by nuns were held in the afternoon, attended by devotees and people working in the construction of the centre.

The Bhutan Nun Foundation announced that it would be commemorating Bhutan Nuns Day on 21st June from this year onwards, marking the day with prayers and Dharma talks.

The Foundation, and projects for the welfare and empowerment of Bhutanese nuns, have been initiated under the Royal Patronage of Her Majesty Gyalyum Tshering Yangdoen.

Her Majesty has initiated and supported numerous other religious projects, including the construction and renovation of lhakhangs and monasteries across the country. Her Majesty as the Royal Patron of the Royal Bhutan Flower Exhibition, works closely with the Exhibition, and lends support and guidance to initiatives for environmental issues. In addition, Her Majesty has provided royal patronage to the enhancement of skills in traditional arts and crafts, and in promoting the cultural heritage of Bhutan as well as in promoting Bhutan’s diplomatic relations.
