From Gewogs and Dzongkhags

After Lyonchhen, the OL visits Laya

Opposition Leader (OL) Tshering Tobgay visited Laya as a chief guest to celebrate the Fourth King Jigme Singye Wangchuck’s birthday.

Along with him, Gasa MP Dasho Damcho Dorji and Lam Netens from Gasa and Dagana also visited the gewog.

Along with birthday celebrations OL and some of the officials also got blessings from Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyel’s Tashi Lhakhang.

Tashi Lhakhang is the sacred site where Zhabdrung in 16th century is believed to have turned spring water into milk.

Gewog Gup Kinley Tshering said that the OL’s visit to the gewog made the Layaps aware of the function of ruling government and the role of Opposition leaders.

The OL and few officials started their journey on 9 November and reached Thimphu on the 14th.

Workshop for the LG leaders and the farm road

A two-day workshop on ‘Climate Change, Environment and Poverty mainstreaming’ was conducted in the gewog for Local Government (LG) leaders.

The workshop is mainly to aid the LG leaders in the implementation of 11th five year plan, where the three elements like climate change, environment and poverty has to be kept in mind.

Moreover, these elements are said to be correlated and go hand-in-hand while implementing development plans.

Any such plans which impact any of the three will not be included while implementing the five year plan. However certain provisions would be made for such cases if there is a solution or strategy to cover up the impacts.

A two-day workshop was conducted by Department of Local Government (DLG) under Ministry of Home & Cultural Affairs (MoHCA).

Apart from the workshop, Yangneer gewog received a budget of Nu 2mn for the construction of a 1.5 kilometer farm road from Tsanglung to Lungzor which was left out due to budget constraints.

Completion of this farm road will benefit the two chiwogs of Darjayling and Daliphangma.

More activities pipelined after cadastral survey completion

Gakidling gewog under Sarpang dzongkhag has finally completed the national land cadastral survey which started about three months back.

Residents are actively involved in the renovation of Rural Water Supply Scheme (RWSS) in Kopitar chiwog for which a budget of about Nu 497,000 is allotted.

A five kilometer long farm road between Sangkha and Kagatey is under maintenance, about Nu 0.4mn would be used for the maintenance.

The gewog would also soon have a lhakhang to worship once the Sanghayosheseniling lhakhang construction is completed.

The lhakhang construction works began a few months back with the budget support from the local people. About Nu 393,000 was collected from the gewog.
