Gyaltshab inaugurates bridge and dairy plant

His Royal Highness Gyaltshab Jigme Dorji Wangchuck, accompanied by Ashi Yeatso Lhamo, graced the inauguration of the newly built bridge, 50 meter Singye Thegchhog Zam, at Bodeydrang under Kanglung Gewog, Trashigang on the Samdrup Jongkhar-Trashigang highway in the morning on 24th September 2015.

Later HRH visited Sherubtse College where the students of Sherubtse College, Jampeling Higher Secondary School and Kanglung Primary School presented a cultural programme as part of the bridge inaugural ceremony. HRH also met with the faculties and students of Sherubtse College.

The inauguration of Singye Thegchhog Zam was dedicated to the commemoration of the 60th Birth Anniversary of His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo.

Later in the afternoon, HRH inaugurated Koufuku International Private Limited (KIPL) Dairy Plant at Chenary, Trashigang.  The plant is owned 70% by SNBL and 30% by DHI. Other major stakeholders in this project are the dairy farmer’s groups in Eastern Dzongkhag and the Department of Livestock, Ministry of Agriculture and Forests.

The plant is currently receiving 500-600 liters per day from Buna Chilling Center, Trashigang. KIPL is focused on improving the quality of in the beginning. After the factory is established and the milk quality improved, KIPL will increase the milk intake and the quantity of the production.
