His Majesty grants land in Merak while on Royal tour of Eastern Dzongkhags

His Majesty The King granted Khimsa land Kidu to the people of Merak and Sakteng on 21st January 2018.

A total of 63.02 acres of land was granted to 333 recipients, 18 of whom were landless.

His Majesty visited Merak and Sakteng in 2015, accompanied by  Her Majesty The Gyaltsuen, and spent three days each in both villages. During the visit, His Majesty commanded that issues concerning Khimsa and Tsamdro, which were articulated as the most important for the people, would be addressed in due time.

Accordingly, the Dzongkhag, National Land Commission, and the Ministry of Works and Human Settlement worked on identifying plots and subsequent development plans. These plots have been granted to the beneficiaries as Khimsa (land allocated for the purpose of constructing a house).

His Majesty celebrated Chunyipai Losar this year with the people of Tashiyangtse, and then visited RigsumGonpa, Chorten Kora, and Khamdang and Ramjargeogs.

Before arriving in Merak, His Majesty visited Bartsham, Bidung, and Radhigeogs in Tashigang.

His Majesty is on a Royal Tour of the eastern dzongkhags, accompanied by His Royal Highness Gyaltshab Jigme Dorji Wangchuck. Members of Parliament from eastern constituencies are also accompanying His Majesty on the visit.
