His Majesty The King visited the new Gyalpozhing College of IT Campus in Kabesa, and met with students and faculty on 20th October 2023, during the college’s “Unboxing Metaverse 2023” event.
The event showcased various IT products and services developed by the college, including Artificial Intelligence to design new gho and kira patterns, robots trained to converse in Dzongkha, a metaverse, a chatbot which has already been purchased for use by the National Land Commission and a bank, and an application to alert people who are drowsy while driving, among others.
The Prime Minister and officials from the education sector attended the event, during which the GCIT Industry Competency Model (ICM) curriculum was formally launched.
Gyalpozhing College of IT moved its campus to Kabesa, Thimphu from Gyalpozhing, Mongar, in August this year, with the start of the ongoing semester.
