The Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) has detained three immigration officers in Phuentsholing over the embezzlement of government funds. The fund was a mix of regular fund and some COVID related fund.
The fund involved may range from Nu 3 mn to Nu 5 mn. One of the officers detained is the accounts officer, another is the approving officer and a third is an immigration officer.
According to sources more people could be involved in this case.
The Home Ministry confirmed that three immigration officials have been suspended for now.
The ACC declined to share details of the ongoing case.
