India House organizes Golf Tournament dedicated to HM the Fourth King

India House Golf Tournament 2014 was organized at the India House Golf Course, Thimphu over a period of five days from Nov. 12 to 16. The tournament commemorated the auspicious occasion of the Birth Anniversary of His Majesty the Fourth King. A total of one fifty eight golfers played the tournament making it a record participation. Sixty seven of them made the cut to the finals played on Nov 15 & 16.

The prize distribution ceremony was conducted on Nov 17.  Her Royal Highness Ashi Chimi Yangzom Wangchuck and Honourable Lyonchhen Tshering Tobgay graced the prize distribution ceremony. Other dignitaries who attended the function included National Council Chairperson Dr. Sonam Kinga, Education Minister Lyonpo Mingbo Dukpa, Finance Minister Lyonpo Namgay Dorji, senior constitutional and government functionaries.

Patron of India House Golf Club and Ambassador of India His Excellency Gautam Bambawale addressed the august gathering and spoke of the importance of India House Golf Tournament in Bhutan’s golfing calendar.  He expressed the hope that the tournament would be even more successful in the years to come.

Welcoming the guests, Secretary of India House Golf Club and Counsellor Subrata Das appreciated the enthusiastic response from Bhutan’s golfing community and commended the golfers on their sporting spirit. He thanked the sponsors Druk PNB, Jaiprakash Associates, PHPA, MHPA, WAPCOS India Ltd., Hotel Taj Tashi, BHEL, HCC Ltd., Druk Air, NIIT and Gammon India for their contribution to the sport of golf in Bhutan by supporting the Tournament.

Lt. Col Khitu Dukpa of RBG was the Champion (Net Winner) winning a cash prize of Nu. 2 lakhs.
