Lyonchhen meets Modi

On the sideline of the BRICS – BIMSTEC Outreach Summit in Goa, India, Lyonchhen Tshering Tobgay on 17th October called on to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and conveyed the greetings and warm wishes of His Majesty the King. Lyonchhen informed PM Modi that Bhutanese fondly recalls PM Modi’s visit to Bhutan soon after assuming his office.

Welcoming Lyonchhen and his delegates to India, PM Modi conveyed his warmest wishes to His Majesty the King, Her Majesty The Gyaltsuen, HRH the Gyalsey and the Royal Family of Bhutan.

Lyonchhen thanked PM Modi for inviting him to the BRICS- BIMSTEC outreach Summit and said that this will provide a good platform to boost ties between the two groupings. Lyonchhen added, “This shows your focus for regional development.”

Lyonchhen expressed concerns on the deteriorating security situations in the region. PM Modi thanked and expressed gratitude to Bhutan for showing solidarity during such times.

On the BBIN Motor Vehicle Agreement, Lyonchhen shared with PM Modi that the 7th Session of the Second Parliament has rectified the Agreement and has been sent to the National Council for their endorsement.

Lyonchhen also shared with PM Modi that basic e-Library equipment have been set up in total of 8 College, 2 Medical College 61 Schools. PM Modi launched the e-Library project during his visit to Bhutan. Lyonchhen and PM Modi also discussed the ongoing hydropower projects, development cooperation and other areas of mutual interest.
