New wave of talent joins Bhutan’s BEAST Program at BOC Academy

Bhutan’s drive to build a strong pool of international-level athletes gained fresh momentum as 10 new sports talents officially became part of the Bhutan Elite Athlete Support and Training (BEAST) Program. The contract signing ceremony, held at the BOC Nation Coaching Academy, marked an important milestone, raising the number of BEAST athletes to 21.

Launched by the Bhutan Olympic Committee (BOC), the BEAST Program is designed to develop top-tier athletes through dedicated support, training, and mentorship. The latest group of inductees includes athletes specializing in Taekwondo, Judo, Archery, Boxing, Swimming, Athletics, and Shooting — signaling Bhutan’s ongoing efforts to invest across a range of competitive sports.

In addition to athlete contracts, coaches working under the BEAST framework signed an official Code of Conduct. This agreement lays out clear expectations for professionalism, discipline, and accountability, ensuring high standards are maintained throughout the training process.

The orientation program covered several key areas essential to modern sports careers. One session focused on responsible digital behavior, helping athletes understand how to manage their presence on social media — a critical aspect of being in the public eye. Another session detailed the insurance benefits provided to the athletes, offering clarity on their coverage and protection during training and competition.

A highlight of the briefing was a presentation by the BOC Media Team on athlete visibility and branding. The team shared strategies to help athletes build personal portfolios, document their achievements, and collaborate with media to strengthen their profiles, important tools in today’s competitive sports landscape.

Senior BOC officials were present throughout the event, showing strong support for the athletes and reinforcing the committee’s commitment to creating a professional, high-performance sports environment in Bhutan. The latest addition to the BEAST Program is a step ahead in the quest for international sporting success.
