PM in Canada

Lyonchhen Tshering Tobgay left for Canada on Tuesday morning to attend the TED 2016 in Vancouver. Lyonchhen is scheduled to speak at the TED Conference on 19 February and return to the country by 21 February 2016.

En route in New Delhi, Lyonchhen met with the Indian Minister of External Affairs Sushma Swaraj and senior officials of the Ministry of External Affairs. Sushma Swaraj also hosted a dinner in honour of Lyonchhen and the delegation at Hyderabad House.

Lyonchhen and delegation left for Canada later at night on Tuesday.

Immediately on arrival in Vancouver on Wednesday, Lyonchhen attended the luncheon meeting at Fairmont Pacific Rim hotel hosted by Mr. Carter Roberts, President of WWF and the Board Members of WWF.

 

In the afternoon, Lyonchhen visited the TED Conference Venue at the Vancouver Convention Center, and also met with Mr. Chris Anderson, Curator of the TED Conferences and Mr. Sam Blyth, Honorary Counsel of Canada to Bhutan in separate meetings.

Lyonchhen also attended the TED private reception and dinner hosted by Mr. Chris Anderson.

Lyonchhen’s engagements in Vancouver on Thursday included speaking at the roundtable meeting with the Asia Pacific Foundation(APF) members; media interview by NPR; separate meetings with Mr. Carter Roberts, President and CEO of WWF; Ms. Judith Wallenstein, Director of Henderson Institute; and Ms. Aimee Christensen, Christensen Global Strategies.

Lyonchhen also attended the luncheon meeting with the management team of WWF as well as the CEOs and representatives of various multinational companies. The day ended with a warm reception and dinner hosted by the Honorary Counsel General Mr. Sam Blyth and APF CEO Mr. Steward Beck.

Lyonchhen spoke at the TED conference on 19 February 2016 at 11.30 pm at night.
