The National Assembly Question and Answer session saw some questions over the state of infrastructure in the country.
MP Hemant Gurung during the Q and A session asked about progress on the Lhamoizingkha-Gesarling highway. In response, the works and human settlement minister Lyonpo Yeshey Zimba said that the delay in the construction was caused mainly due to budget constraints despite the importance given by the government to the highway. He further elaborated that the work on the construction of the highway will begin soon as the fund has been secured from ORIO, Netherlands.
Similarly, Opposition Leader, Tshering Tobgay questioned about the recent collapse of the Langchenphu Bridge in Lhuentse.
Lyonpo Yeshey Zimba said that the work was carried out by the Construction Development Corporation Limited (CDCL) but they are not to be held accountable as they had carried out the work as per the norms and standards set and the bridge collapsed due to defect in one of the iron joints used to support the construction work.
