Sarpang has an Educated farmer as its new NC

35 year old Anand Rai from Gakiling gewog won the NC election from Sarpang Dzongkhag with a total of 4,278 votes of which, 3,534 votes are through EVM and 744 were through postal ballots.

Anand Rai was an educated farmer for the past seven years prior to contesting for the NC race. He holds a BA (Honours) degree in History. ”As I’ve spent years dealing with all kinds of people and issues faced in daily life, I’m aware of the issues and need in the region and that’s why I think people chose me”. “Due to link with people from all the background, this is also one reason for my win”

He said that his priority would depend on the need and demand of the situation. However, he added that considering the experience and understanding the need of the majority, agriculture would be the main prioritized sector. “My deliberation will be made always on behalf of the welfare of the people.”

He said that the win was not expected but is a huge relief as his desire to serve the people is being fulfilled. “I think I will be able to fulfill the expectation and dream of our King and people and bring necessary changes that this country needs”

Among the rest six candidates, Pema Tashi got the highest votes with 3,736 total votes followed by Tshering Norbu with 3,590 votes and Dhan Bdr Mongar with 2,455 votes.

Ugyen Tshering Dorji got 1,743 votes followed by Tshering Penjore with a total of 868 votes and kharilal with a total of 854 votes.
