Speaker, PM, Thrizin and OL thank His Majesty at closing of 10th session of 2nd Parliament

His Majesty The King along with Her Majesty the Gyaltsuen graced the closing ceremony of the 10th session of the Second Parliament yesterday.

Addressing the closing session, the speaker of the National Assembly Jigme Zangpo expressed his gratitude to His Majesty The King for tirelessly working for the peace and security of the people, promoting economic development, and granting kidu to all those in need.

The speaker added, “The Parliament would like to offer sincere gratitude to Her Majesty the Gyaltsuen, Their Majesties the Gyalyum, His Royal Highnesses and the Royal Family for taking various initiatives for the welfare of the country.

“His Holiness the Je Khenpo has carried out numerous initiatives for the promotion of Buddha Dharma in the country. Moreover, His Holiness had presided over the Moenlam Chenmo in Punakha, and performed numerous religious transmissions of KaChoe Wang Sum in various Dzongkhags. Therefore, the Parliament would like to express gratitude to His Holiness the Je Khenpo.

“In an effort to ensure the security of the nation and continued peace for the people, the Armed Forces have been serving tirelessly across the nation. We would like to extend appreciation to all Armed Forces personnel in the country,” added the speaker.

Lyonchhen Tshering Tobgay expressed his gratitude to His Majesty for all the noble initiative and support rendered so far to the people of Bhutan. “When the Doklam issue was rife only few months ago, I think many of our people were not aware about the major threat it posed to our sovereignty as an independent nation. At the most crucial time, His Majesty’s visionary leadership and wise diplomatic skills safeguarded the country without even a small dent amidst such national threats.”

“His Majesty personally visited the Doklam area during the dispute between India and China and resolved the issue without even our people knowing of the great threat it could have posed to our national security. So, on behalf of the people of Bhutan, I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to Your Majesty for your unwavering service to the nation.” Lyonchhen said.

The Chairperson of National Council Dasho Dr. Sonam Kinga while expressing his gratitude to His Majesty also added, “Gyalsey Jigme Namgyel Wangchuk during the Royal Visit to India left millions of people charmed with his grace and demeanor. What the ministers and government officials have been trying to achieve and maintain the good relations for the past 12 or so years, His Royal Highness the Gyalsey solidified it deeper within a very short span of time with his admirable grace.”

The Opposition Leader Dr.  Pema Gyamtsho also expressed his gratitude to His Majesty for resolving the Doklam dispute through diplomacy.

The 10th Session of the National Assembly has adopted the the Information, Communication and Media Bill of Bhutan 2017, the Anti- Money Laundering and Countering of Financing of Terrorism Bill of Bhutan 2017, the Narcotic Drugs, Psychotropic Substances and Substance Abuse (Amendment) Bill of Bhutan 2017 and the Tourism Levy Exemption Bill of Bhutan 2017 (Money Bill), which are now submitted to His Majesty for the Royal Assent.
