The 2019 BOB Bhutan Premier League boasts the arrival of numerous foreign footballers and Jay Hart, from Accrington in Lancashire, England now playing for Thimphu City FC is one of the premier acquisitions made for the season.
The former non-league forward was a prolific goal-getter for a number of clubs in England and has set his sights on making his mark in Bhutan. “It’s something different, I have never played full time football in England, so when the coach called with an opportunity to play here, it was a no-brainer,” said Hart.
A Man City supporter, Jay Hart is a big fan of Sergio Aguero and says that he loves watching the deadly Argentine striker play and tries to play like Aguero. Jay Hart’s strengths are his pace, work rate and composed finishing which were on display as he nicked the ball off the defender before calmly slotting home in a one-on-one with the Keeper, scoring the opening goal in the opening fixture of the BOB Bhutan Premier League.
The English forward has adapted well to Bhutanese football, scoring 2 goals in 2 games for Thimphu City FC. “There aren’t many differences, but the players here are fitter and more skillful and the game is a bit quicker and less physical than it was in England,” said Hart.
While the forward hopes to continue his hot-scoring form, winning the Top Scorer prize is not his top priority. Winning the league holds more importance for the forward who said “I want to keep scoring because it certainly helps the team but being top scorer isn’t that important to me. I’d much rather win the league than be the top scorer”.
Jay Hart’s next game is on the 17th of July,2019 against High Quality United FC where the forward hopes to add to his tally.
