Their Majesties and Their Royal Highnesses visit Gelephu

His Majesty The King, Her Majesty The Gyaltsuen, and Their Royal Highnesses Gyalsey Jigme Namgyel Wangchuck, Gyalsey Ugyen Wangchuck and Gyalsem Sonam Yangden Wangchuck were on a Royal visit to Gelephu.

On 25 July 2026, Their Majesties and Their Royal Highnesses visited Sarpang Dzong, and offered prayers. Laytshog Lopen, who is overseeing the preparations of zung to be placed inside the 108 Chortens to be built in the Gelephu Mindfulness City, presented the sacred items to Their Majesties and Their Royal Highnesses.

The 108 Jangchub Chortens is a project in which 108 stupas will be built within the Gelephu Mindfulness City on a single day by 40,000 volunteers on 1 November 2026.

The ambitious and special project demonstrates the strength in unity and capabilities of the Bhutanese people, and is dedicated to bestowing blessings upon the Gelephu Mindfulness City.

While in Gelephu, Their Majesties met with people working on various projects within the GMC, as well as local businesses and the people of Gelephu.
