A 3-year-old child succumbed to injuries following a car accident on 4th September 2026.
The accident occurred at Changangkha Lhakhang parking area in the afternoon. The accident happened while a taxi was coming out from the parking after dropping off the passengers at the Changangkha parking.
The taxi was moving forward and the child was struck by the front part of the vehicle.
As per sources, the child and his mother were on their way to visit the Lhakhang as it was the child’s birthday.
Medical sources said the child was brought to the JDWNRH emergency ward at around 1:20 pm in critical condition and was in cardiac arrest.
The hospital team attempted resuscitation for about 40 minutes. However, the child could not be saved as his condition was already severe.
The main cause of death was traumatic brain injury with skull fractures.
The male taxi driver responsible for the accident has been detained by the police. The driver was not intoxicated in any way.
