Child’s death at Tashicholing Hospital reviewed by Health Ministry

The Ministry of Health (MoH) has conducted a thorough review of the recent incident at Tashicholing Hospital in Samtse that led to the death of a child.

The Health Secretary, Pemba Wangchuk, said, “I would like to clarify that all information previously provided by our health staff has been re-verified.”

Tashicholing Hospital, he noted, is one of the country’s more advanced facilities, equipped with modern infrastructure and 24/7 surveillance.

“Based on our investigation and confirmation through the review of CCTV recordings, the patient arrived at the hospital unresponsive, and the attending doctor reached the patient within five minutes,” the Health Secretary added.

The investigation found that, although the chances of revival were extremely low, the medical team adhered to all standard life-saving procedures, consulted senior doctors, and prepared for referral. “Despite these efforts, the patient did not respond to the advanced life-support measures,” he said.

MoH has assured the public that all protocols were followed and that it remains committed to maintaining high standards of care at its facilities.

The Secretary has asked for patients to be brought earlier in the hospital for better care.
