An Olympic Solidarity course on International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) level-1 coaches’ course is being conducted in Thimphu by the Bhutan Olympic Commission (BOC) from December 21 to 28.
The members include school sports instructor and member of dzongkhag sports association from all 20 dzongkhags consisting of 27 members; 21 males and six females. There are three coaches from Japan, Pakistan and Bhutan taking part in the course.
After the completion of course the trained members will be training in their respective dzongkhags. It is funded by Olympic Solidarity (OS) and Para Table Tennis Federation (PTPF) for the disabled will also be introduced for the first time in Bhutan before April 2016. There are arrangements to bring in special equipment, like wheel chairs and other necessary equipment for the disabled to be trained in.
“The couching also include how to train the disabled ones, which includes training in both theory and physical practice, and with this Bhutan might also get to participate in international disabled completion in near future,” said the national assistant coach Dala Thinley.
The ITTF level-2 coaches’ course will be conducted in December next year with at least 15 members.
