The candidates of Druk Phuensum Tshogpa (DPT) and People’s Democratic Party (PDP) ran their constituents through the usual drill of sharing points from their respective party manifestos, ideologies, and promises to fulfill the pledges if they win in the upcoming general elections.
The PDP candidate Karma Dorji, however, pulled a one up to clarify certain rumors that were spread about him being a drug-addict.
The PDP candidate of the Drujeygang-Tseza constituency is a former teacher of Dagana Lower Secondary School (LSS) and served in the government for more than four years before joining politics.
Talking to the people of the constituency, he said he was a role model for the students and given an opportunity he would do his best to serve the people. He also cleared public doubts on PDP pledges to buy two helicopters for the country to do emergency rescue and relief work.
The PDP candidate also promised to construct new roads from Kamichu to Dagana, and open new routes from Dagana to Lhamoizingkha.
He justified saying that when the government can give Nu 4.5mn to one person then why can’t the party give Nu 700,000 for a pool vehicle in each gewog, and fund some new developmental activities within the gewog.
Under this he listed the black-topping of the farm roads for the benefits of people in the gewog.
The candidate also pledged the party manifesto promises in areas of education and health system, loans for the poor students who cannot afford to go for further studies, increment in pension for the armed forces, census problems, jobs for the youth, and PDP’s full support women and youth.
The DPT candidate Sonam Jamtsho who was the former MP of Dagana talked about the party manifesto, ideologies, and shared that there will be improvement in the gewog through developmental activities like farm roads. There will be improvement in the agricultural sectors, and health and education sectors.
He said during their five years of governance there are still some incomplete works which are still pending, and if the party wins again he promised to complete the works as fast as he can.
During the question and answer round the two candidates cleared the doubts of the public.
People of Drujeygang, Pangserpo and Tseza gathered to attend the general election public conducted on July 18.
