DPT gets Panbang and PDP gets Bardo-Trong

Panbang constituency under Zhemgang chose the Druk Phuensum Tshogpa (DPT) as its votes swayed in favor of the former Labour Minister and the DPT candidate Dorji Wangdi while Bardo-Trong chose People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidate Lekey Dorji.

DPT’s Dorji Wangdi secured 1,906 votes, out of which 50 were postal ballot votes and 1,402 were through electronic voting machine (EVM) votes while PDP’s Lekey Dorji secured a total of 1, 218 postal ballot votes and 1, 934 EVM votes.

Dorji Wangdi, 43, last served as Labour Minister during DPT government’s five-year tenure. He has a master’s degree in business administration with specialization

in corporate strategy and economic policy from Maastricht School of Management (MSM) in the Netherlands.

Lekey Dorji, 47, from Wamling village under Shingkhar gewog, has studied in United Kingdom, and he ran a consultancy firm after the 2008 elections where he contested as a PDP candidate. He has an engineering background.

DPT’s Gyambo Tshering who lost from Bardo-Trong secured a total votes of 2, 255 votes while PDP’s Tshering who lost in Panbang could secure only 1, 864 votes.

Zhemgang has 15, 990 registered voters out which Panbang constituency has 9, 138 registered voters while Bardo-Trong has only 6, 752 voters.
