Drug trafficker breaks arm after jumping off a cliff to get away from RBP

A 47-year-old man from Chargharey, Samtse, suffered a broken arm when he tried to flee arrest at Rinchending check post, four kms from Phuentsholing town, at around 4:30 am of September 16.

Police at Rinchending arrested the suspect who was carrying 3,980 tablets of N10, concealed in a locked backpack among other belongings.

The suspect has taken a lift in an Eicher truck from Phuentsholing. Police said that, while checking his bag, the suspect tried to run, which led to a tussle with the police on duty and the suspect’s shirt got torn.

He managed to run from the spot, however, the police went in hot pursuit and cornered the suspect who jumped off the cliff. They tracked him down in a bush where he had suffered a broken arm and some minor injuries. The suspect was  evacuated to hospital where he is reported to be in stable condition.

The 43 year old driver of the Eicher truck from Tsirang tested negative for drugs but has been detained to ascertain his involvement.
