A tragic accident in Mongar claimed the lives of five family members after their vehicle veered off a farm road at Takchhu at around 6 pm on 11th December 2025.
The family was returning home from the Mongar Regional Referral Hospital when the accident occurred.
Six people were travelling in the vehicle. Five of them, the driver, his elder sister, her daughter-in-law, her daughter and one granddaughter of the elder sister lost their lives. One of the granddaughters survived and is currently receiving treatment at the Regional Referral Hospital.
According to police, the driver may have lost control of the vehicle, causing it to plunge off the farm road.
Police said the road and weather conditions at the time were normal, and they suspect carelessness may have contributed to the loss of control.
