Former NC representative re-elected in Pemagatshel

The former National Council (NC) representative, Jigmi Rinzin was re-elected from Pemagatshel securing 5,184 votes of which he secured 1,467 through postal ballot and 3,717 through Electronic Voting Machine (EVM).

The other contestants, Pema Wangchuk secured 2,103 votes and Sherab Jamtsho secured 1,685 votes.

“I would like to ensure successful implementation of 11th Five Year Plan,” said Jigmi Rinzin. He will propose necessary amendments to legislation covering parliamentary committees. He further shared that he would contribute towards building a good system of governance.

“I believe in myself and I have gained experiences over the last five years to serve people and country better,” Jigmi Rinzin said. He added that he understood the problems and aspirations of the people in Pemagatshel.

After he was elected as the Member of Parliament in 2008, Jigmi Rinzin served as the Chairman of National Council Committee on Parliamentary Entitlements.

He is a Chartered Accountant and he was also the Member of Global Study Group on new Public Accounts Committee and the Secretary General Asia Regional Association of Public Accounts Committee.

He also served as the Head of the Investigation Division with the Anti- Corruption Commission and he served as the Head of Corporation and Financial Institutions Division in Royal Audit Authority. He further served as the General Manager of the Commercial Department in Kuensel.

Jigmi Rinzin did his Association of Chartered Certified Accountants from London, UK and graduated from Sherubtse College with B.com Honors. Pemagatshel dzongkhag has more than 23,000 eligible voters.
