School upgraded to higher secondary
Yadi Middle Secondary School was upgraded to higher secondary recently. This will benefit the students from the seven gewogs; Ngatshang, Chaskar, Thangrong, Shermuhoong, Balam, Dremetsi and Narang. Two centenary farmers’ markets constructed
The construction of two centenary markets has been completed so that farmers can earn some income from the sale of farm products. Each market is about five meters wide and can accommodate about 40 people. The construction costs around Nu 0.2 mn. The inauguration ceremony will be conducted towards the end of this month. Preparations on for upcoming Talo Tshechu
Talo Tshechu which starts on Friday is being eagerly awaited by the people. It was introduced during the time of Zhabdrung Jigme Drap and still thousands of people get together to witness the occasion in their best outfits. Dancers including mask dancers are fully prepared for the Tshechu. Till 2011, the gewog used to receive at least Nu 50,000 from the dzongkhag for the Tshechu preparation but now it is organized and coordinated by community themselves, said the gewog administrative officer (GAO), Tshewang Dorji. Besides the Tshechu, blessing for long life (Tshewang) will be conducted Zhabdrung Phuensum thongdrel (liberation of seeing) will be displayed. (Dawa Zangmo)
