Her Majesty the Gyaltsuen Jetsun Pema Wangchuck launched the book ‘Jewel in the Crown’, which tells the story of the Royal Wedding with digital illustrations on January 19, 2012 at the Taj Tashi in Thimphu.
The Book which is the first of its kind in Bhutan has 41 paintings covering the three days of the Royal Wedding celebrations, from October 13 to 15, 2011. The book was published by BMC Private Ltd.
The paintings capture the Royal proceedings in and soft and fairy tale like manner with simple text.
BMC staff said that the paintings had been hand drawn digitally and a ‘fairytale’ theme had been included in the paintings.
“Fairy tales have become archaic today yet, in our time, we see a young girl finding her place in the heart of a young King – a love story that is nothing short of a living fairy tale,” Tshering Wangchuk explained on the inspiration to come up with the book.
Priced at Nu 1,200, the book will be available at bookshops in Thimphu or interested institutions can purchase the books in bulk directly from BMC.
Those have already seen the book gave a good review of the images and the unique concept of the book.
