His Majesty The King visited Gelephu on 17 May to meet residents affected by the development of the Gelephu Mindfulness City (GMC) Airport, and visit key GMC sites.
Accompanied by the GMC Governor and officials, His Majesty met with families who have moved to new locations with support from GMC, to personally inspect their new homes and businesses, listen to their concerns, and ensure that the relocation does not disrupt the lives and livelihoods of the people.
His Majesty also toured key sites earmarked for future development under GMC, including the proposed locations for the Gelephu Chorten, Geynyen Lhakhang, Founder’s lots, resorts, and golf course.
