Man arrested for fake car sale

Punakha police has forwarded a case involving deceptive practice to Gasa police on May 16 for further investigation.

On May 14, a complaint was made by a 29-year-old man from Lobcha, Gasa, Laya against a 34- year-old man from Wangbama, Thimphu for a deceptive sale transaction. Punakha police arrested the suspect from Khuruthang, Punakha on the same day.

The 34-year-old suspect had sold a pick-up Bolera vehicle in Gasa at Nu 230,000 to the victim, who later found that the car document was fake, as the name of the vehicle owner was a different person and not the suspect.

Upon inquiry with legitimate vehicle owner, the victim was told that the vehicle belonged to her and the vehicle was on hire.

According to the police, the suspect had hired the Bolero in Phuentsholing on May 11 and had taken the vehicle to Gasa for sale on May 14. The suspect was involved in similar cases in the past as well.
