A farmer’s market shed, constructed upon the Royal Command of His Majesty The King, was inaugurated at Gangola in Mongar.
The farmer’s market will immensely benefit the farmers of Chali, Tsakaling, and Mongar gewogs, who market their produce at the strategic location, situated at the junction of the Mongar-Bumthang and Monger-Lhuntshe highways. The farmers at this location had to sit in the open, braving all kinds of weather stolidly to sell their produce, and had been promised a market shed by His Majesty during one of His Majesty’s visits to the region.
The structure with Bhutanese architectural features was built at the cost of Nu. 1.88 millions. Construction work started from 12th April 2015 and was completed by 30th December 2015, executed by a team of Royal Bhutan Army personnel. The new market shed includes a store, improved public toilets, and water supply.
The inauguration ceremony was graced by His Royal Highness Gyaltshab Jigme Dorji Wangchuck, His Majesty’s representative in the east.
