Monk dies in vehicle accident

A 37-year-old monk died in a vehicle accident in India, the cause of the accident was ruled to be over speeding. The deceased as travelling in an Indian taxi in Madharihat, Ali Pure which is 70 meters away from Madharihat police station towards Samtse on June 29.

The deceased was a monk from Sikkim, and the taxi was travelling from Phuentsholing towards Sikkim.

There were 12 passengers travelling in the taxi including the driver, out of which six where Bhutanese; two males and four females. The survivors were immediately referred to Ali Pure Duar hospital and later four of the passengers were admitted to Phuentsholing hospital with minor injuries. The monk died of serious head injuries.
