Parties given certificate of election as DPT MPs give it a miss

The certificate of election was awarded to the Druk Phuensum Tshogpa(DPT) and People’s Democratic Party(PDP) at Election Commission of Bhutan office on the morning of July 19.

The 32 candidates of PDP received the certificate, while the 15 DPT candidates did not turn up for the event, as the DPT was holding its party conference at Youth Development Fund Hall at the same time. The certificates

for DPT MPs were received by the DPT Vice President Sangay Thinley.

It later emerged that the DPT will be putting forward a 15 points grievance to His Majesty the King on the 2013 election. The 15 DPT MPs will only take office if these grievances are addressed.

The certificate awarding ceremony was presided over by the Chief Election Commissioner of Bhutan, Dasho Kunzang Wangdi in the presence of the election officials, candidates, and local media houses.
