RSTA reduces Bus and taxi fares on multiple routes from 25th July due to Damchu-Chukha bypass

The Road Safety and Transport Authority (RSTA) revised bus and taxi fares due to the decrease in travel distance on the new Damchu-Chukha bypass route starting on 25th July. The revised rate per person is only applicable to commercial transport service vehicles plying on the new Damchu-Chukha bypass route.

With the completion of new bypass road, the distance between Thimphu and Phuentsholing is reduced by 19.2 km. The revised fare for taxi from Thimphu to Phuentsholing is Nu 604 and the revised fare for coaster bus is Nu 195.

The earlier taxi fare from Thimphu to Phuentsholing was Nu 864 per person and the coaster bus fare was Nu 221 per person.

Similarly, the taxi fare from Paro to Phuentsholing is now Nu 580 and the revised fare for coaster bus is Nu 187. Earlier, it cost a passenger Nu 660 for a taxi ride from Paro to Phuentsholing and the earlier coaster bus fare was Nu 213.

Taxis charged Nu 380 to travel from Thimphu to Chukha Hydropower Corporation (CHPC) Housing Colony. The same travel distance on a coaster bus used to cost Nu 123. However, passengers now have to pay Nu 284 for the same distance and the revised coaster bus fare from Thimphu to CHPC is Nu 92.

The taxi fare from Haa to Phuentsholing was Nu 892 earlier, but it is reduced to Nu 812. Likewise, the coaster bus fare is no longer Nu 288 but Nu 262.

The taxi fare from Punakha to Phuentsholing was Nu 920 and coaster bus fare was Nu 297. The revised fare for taxi from Punakha to Phuentsholing is Nu 840 and the revised coaster bus fare is Nu 271.

Taxi fare from Wangdue to Phuentsholing was Nu 916 and coaster bus fare was Nu 295. Now with the revised fare, taxi will cost Nu 836 and the revised fare for coaster bus is Nu 270.

The earlier rate for taxi was Nu 4 per km per person and for the coaster bus was Nu 1.29 per km per person. These rates were charged irrespective of the place travelled.

    Why? RSTA just making fakes rules about fare saying fares are reduced due to Damchu bypass and distance reduces 19.2 km compared before but Stil taxi are charging 650 to 750 Stil that rules is not following
