Six arrested in one week for different crimes

In the past week, Thimphu police apprehended six people suspected of auto stripping, burglary and larceny. Three are students, two are unemployed men and one is a private employee.

On the night of 10 June, police received a complaint from Olakha that a person had vandalized three eicher trucks, a Tucson, a Swift Dezire and an Alto car. The vehicles had been broken into and things stolen. The following day, police apprehended a 21-year-old suspect from Zhemgang.

Police said they could solve numerous auto-stripping cases after the arrest. The man is also alleged to be involved in a burglary case.

On 12 June, two men, aged 24 and 38 years, were apprehended for stealing a 40-inch Samsung TV from a restaurant at around 11:30 in the morning.

According to police, the two suspects had entered the rest room of the restaurant from their compound wall and stole the TV. They were arrested toward the evening of the same day.

On 13 June, they arrested three youths, aged 14 to 17 years old. In March a case was registered case against them for  stealing the shoes of a woman tourist visiting Changangkha lhakhang. “Though there was a CCTV footage in the Lhakhang we could not get a clear face of the culprit, however, we got lead from the footage and managed to arrest them only recently.”
