Three women and two men arrested for drug trafficking

Three woman and two men are being held for further investigation by the Thimphu police in connection with the trafficking of illegal prescription drugs.

Following a tip off, police arrested the 26 year old man on February 6 around noon from the vegetable market area. The man from Tendu, Samtse, had in his possession 544 capsules of SP and two packet of dried marijuana leaves.

The next afternoon police arrested a 45 year old driver who had in his possession three bottles of corex and 9 codine based E-xcuf. The substances were seized from his residence in Changjiji colony.

Police also seized an additional 720 capsules of SP from 25 years old man who claimed to have received the substance from his 36 years old ex-wife but later said that he brought it from residence of the 45 year old driver.

Police learned that two more women in Mongar are involved. The Thimphu police requested Gyelposhing OC in Mongar to arrest them. Of the two women, one is the wife of 45 year old driver. Police have released the 45 year old driver on surety as his wife and other suspects claimed that he is innocent and not involved.
