Tsirang molestation case under investigation

Tsirang police is still investigating the case where a 54-year-old man from Tsirang was arrested on 8 November following a complaint on 5 November against him for molesting 8 students in one of the primary schools in Tsirang.

The suspect is the officiating principal of the school, and the 8 students are in class II and III. The case is jointly investigated by Tsirang police and child protection unit under the dzongkhag.

Police said that some of the students had complained against the suspect for ‘bad touch’. Police are investigating the case for evidences. Since students were engaged with their exams they did not want to pressure the students, police said.

With regard to the case, a woman named ‘Kencho Lham’ posted on social media defending the officiating principal (suspect) by making various allegations against the two teachers in the school.

She also has alleged that the students were coached to say bad touch. However, it was learnt that police have not received a single parent coming to police station saying that their children were coached to say bad touch.

The case is under investigation and the suspect is under detention for further investigation.
