BICMA submits mobile costing mobile data to Ministry

In order to take an informed decision on the 50% data cut, BICMA was tasked to carry out the mobile costing model exercise by the government.

The main of the study is to study the real cost and economics of mobile data charges in Bhutan and see if the claims of Bhutan Telecom and even Tashi Cell are true that they need to maintain the rates at current levels and not much lower.

On the other hand many consumers feel that the mobile data charges are too high.

BICMA has completed the exercise and the final report has been submitted to the Ministry of Industry Commerce and Employment which is currently being reviewed at the ministerial level.

The Ministry will soon submit an appraisal note to Lhengye Zhungtshog for the final decision
