Bhutan National Bank Ltd (BNBL), donated Nu 2 mn to RENEW (Respect, Educate, Nurture and Empower Women).
The CEO of BNBL Mr. Kipchu Tshering presented the cheque of Nu 2 mn to Her Majesty Gyalyum Sangay Choden Wangchuck on 29th March.The president and founder of RENEW, Her Majesty Gyalyum Sangay Choden Wangchuck thanked BNBL for the support and pointed out that the support will benefit RENEW to sustain its services to provide specific attention to the survivors of domestic violence, sexual and gender based violence, families and youth of Bhutan.
Her Majesty said since its establishment in 2004, RENEW has been consistently at the forefront of providing social services and with an increasing number of programs and services being provided, additional support from other sources are required for the continuity of the services.
Meanwhile, Dr. Meenakshi Rai, Director of Community Outreach Department pointed out that, number of people approaching RENEW for help has been increasing yearly and to meet the demand, the organization continues to explore new avenues for support.
RENEW is committed to forging a better understanding of gender equality and the circumstances causing domestic violence, sexual and gender based violence through multilayered services.
The arrogance of women are increasing every year and so is the divorce rate and problem among married couples. We will see more problems in future because women are now emboldened with the support they receive….
