DNT wins Gasa

Druk Nyamrup Tshogpa (DNT) won in both the constituencies, Khatoed-Laya and Khamaed-Lunana, in Gasa yesterday.

DNT’s candidate from Khatoed-Laya, Tenzin, received 89 Postal Ballot (PB) votes and 499 votes via Electronic Voting Machine (EVM), taking the total vote count to 588 votes.

DPT’s candidate, Changa Dawa, secured 23 PB and 245 EVM, making the total 268 votes.

Tenzin said, “In the general round of National Assembly election, people from my constituency nominated me based on my performance and experience.”

Changa Dawa said he joined politics just recently, and therefore, he did not get much time to interact with the people. “If one connects and interacts for longer time with the people, there are more chances of winning,” he added.

He said feel that it was a wonderful opportunity and experience for him to get the chance to contest.

DNT’s candidate,Yeshey Dem, from Khamaed Lunana won 419 votes (89 PB + 330 EVM). Dhendup from DPT secured a total of 361 votes (48 PB+ 313 EVM).

Yeshey Dem said, “DNT has won because as it was in the past two elections, the people wanted change. People wanted a new but capable party to form the government. Also, I feel that being the first woman candidate from Gasa, people voted for me.”
