Four non-nationals arrested for alleged gang rape

Thimphu police apprehended four Indian construction workers from Serbithang on 1 July at around 7:30 pm for allegedly raping a 42 year old woman.

As per the statement of the suspects to the police they said that they were on their way back to camp when they saw a taxi parked on the roadside and on hearing a couple talking above the road in a bushes they approached the couple. Thereafter, two Indian workers got hold of the man and beat him while two got hold of the woman.

However, the man managed to escape and called police immediately. When police reached the crime scene, all the four suspects fled the place. One used slipper was recovered from the crime scene with which the police conducted the search.

Police managed to arrest all four suspects from a camp in Serbithang. Police are investigating the case.
