A drug crackdown team from Thimphu police along with the Wangduephodrang police arrested two men from Drapchekha under in Wangduephodrang on 5 November at around 1 PM. They made an arrest with a tip-off.
The police have seized a total of 119 sticks of Hashish weighing 710 grams from their possession. Of the total seizure, 50 sticks weighing 285 grams were seized from one 30-year-old suspect while 69 sticks weighing 430 grams were seized from the 28-year-old suspect.
Both the men are farmers are from Tshowogm gewog, Wangdue and are currently residing at Haebisa. Police said that, the two suspects had processed and manufactured the hashish from a place called Yajugang which is a 2 hours walk from Haebisa village.
In addition, police carried out a search in both the suspects’ house but they could recover nothing. Police said that, according to the suspects, the place is visited by many people to purchase as well as to process hashish.
Meanwhile, Punakha police intercepted two men with a tip-off on 8 November at around 3:40 PM from Mendegang. From the three suspects, they have seized three packets of 98.36 grams, 95.09 grams and 64.08 grams.
Police said that, during the course of investigation, it was learnt that, the two suspects had come from Paro on 7 November and camped at Samdingkha that night. Police also said that, all the three tested positive.
The two suspects are from Drugyel, Paro and are farmers. One suspect is 24-year-old while the other is a 21-year-old. All of the four suspects above were detained for further investigation.
