Thimphu and especially its radio community was shocked to learn about the death of a young Radio Jockey on 2nd January 2016.
The 26 year old man was found dead near eight eleven shop (near Thimphu Thromde office). A traffic policeman after finding the man lying unconscious reported the matter to the city police at around 1 pm.
However, even though the deceased had a ‘blunt injury’ at the back of his head the lack of forensic facilities and equipment is hampering any fruitful investigation.
Dr Norbu, of the Forensic Department said that due to a lack of examination tools they could not find any other clue apart from his back head injury.
“I have collected the deceased’s urine and we have sent for investigation but due to lack of examination facilities we found nothing and this is a handicap”, he added.
The deceased was from Lalikharka village in Tsirang and he was residing with his family in Changzamtog, Thimphu. Police identified the person as a radio jockey in of the private radio stations in Thimphu.
Police said that, there was a blunt injury at the back of the head and apart from that, nothing else was found at the scene. The police also said that, upon checking the deceased at the scene nothing was found from his pocket with no phone and no wallet.
It is not sure if it was an accidental death or a murder case. The Police said, “We couldn’t find any indications of murder but we are sure that the deceased was under influence of alcohol”.
Police also said that the deceased was with his friends before his death. The body was handed over to his parents.
Police said that the case is still under investigation.
