Thimphu police have detained a 29-year-old man for stabbing his 24-year-old in-law following a tussle on the night of 17 July 2019. The initial complaint was lodged to police by doctors on duty in the emergency department, JDWNRH when the victim was brought to hospital on 18 July at around 6:30 AM.
Police said that the incident took place on 17 July. The victim and the suspect along with their other friends went to a karaoke in Thimphu. After that they went to victim’s house and there a fight broke out between two of them, police added.
The suspect chased the victim from his house and stabbed him from behind. In addition, one of their friends got injured (cut in his right arm) when he tried to stop them.
As per the police, the victim is in a stable condition and he was taken to the hospital on time. It was learnt that they were drunk during the time of incident. Police also said that they have recovered the weapon from the hospital as the suspect threw it in the hospital compound.
The suspect is under detention for further investigation and he will be charged for battery (stabbing). The suspect is a thukpa vendor while the victim is a cook in one of the clubs. The suspect has confessed to the crime.
